Our school’s pedagogy reflects the overarching principles and approach to learning outlined in the Sydney Catholic Schools’ Statement on Authentic Learning. By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School Paddington Learning ApproachWe promote excellence in learning and teaching by providing a dynamic, challenging and contemporary curriculum, which caters for the interests, talents and diverse needs of students. As teachers, we work together in planning, implementing and reflecting on quality teaching and learning for our students. Collaboration is fundamental to, and underpins, our learning as our students are empowered to be interconnected with their community, parish, teachers and peers to learn from one another.

In our inner-city Paddington learning environments, we look up and out across our Sydney city skyline. As we rise through the many levels of our school building our view expands until we reach the pinnacle, our rooftop terrace. The rising embodies the progression of learning, where the students are encouraged to soar to greater heights. Just as the doves, represented in our school logo, fly in unison, soaring into the sky, infinite in their potential destination, so too are our students encouraged to work collaboratively, imagine the possibilities, challenge themselves and soar to great heights.

We believe that we soar to the extraordinary in our learning by being empowered, innovative, interconnected and having a growth mindset.
